Lampang Chicken Bowls

Posted on April 14, 2018 by diasepia

Famous handmade bowls like this are painted by artists in Lampang province, in the North of Thailand. Now you can find them all over Thailand, but the original “Chicken-brand Bowl” (ชามตราไก่) comes from one factory in Lampang.

This particular bowl is full of Pad Thai bought on the street in Phetchaburi. It’s not from Lampang, so it’s not the traditional, real-deal Chicken-brand bowl. But you can see the appeal of the design, and the fact that this one is found so far south shows the popularity of chicken bowls in Thailand. Many boat noodle shops (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือ) also serve their wares in these bowls.

Thank you! There are bowls and plates, too, in many sizes. Send me an email and I’ll help you find them!
